‘Eat a beet’ challenge kicks off in Hamilton

First Published:

A campaign kicks off today in Hamilton that encourages residents to eat a beet in support of Food 4 Kids.

The challenge to #EatABeet was spearheaded by the Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association in 2021.

Food 4 Kids Hamilton is a non-profit organization that provides healthy food for children who have limited to it.

The organization works to feed children in the absence of a breakfast or meal program provided by their school, so on weekends or during the summer months.

Food 4 Kids currently has programs in 65 Hamilton elementary schools and 10 Hamilton high schools.

Each week, these schools receive over 1,400 packages of healthy food to distribute to children enrolled in the program.
