Costco Canada is providing priority access for members who are healthcare workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The popular warehouse club said customers who present official identification of their role along with their membership card will be allowed to move to the front of any line to enter the store.
Costco has had a surge of business since the outbreak and implemented new measures to control the number of customers allowed in its warehouses in response.
Now, no more than two people are allowed to enter with each membership card. The company says it is a temporary change to increase the safety of customers and employees and to further assist with their social distancing efforts.
The company also reduced some services and applied limits on the number of certain items customers are allowed to buy at once.
Costco has already put in place special operating hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for members aged 60 and older or who have a physical disability.
