Cold, blowing snow weather warnings issued for Halton, Hamilton and Niagara regions

Environment Canada has issued a “yellow” cold weathers warning for the Halton, Hamilton and Niagara regions.

A wind chill of near -30 C is expected to last through tonight into Saturday morning. These same temperatures may return Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Local regions are also expected to see blowing snow and strong wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h into Saturday morning, significantly reducing visibility conditions.

The weather agency is advising the public to watch out for cold related symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Most of southern and eastern Ontario have also been issued cold weather warnings. Environment Canada has also placed a blizzard warning for the City of London and its surrounding area.
