Premier Wynne says high electricity prices are her ‘mistake’

Premier Kathleen Wynne is calling the province’s sky high electricity rates her “mistake.”
The premier made the admission when she spoke to Ontario Liberal party faithful at their general meeting in Ottawa, Saturday.
Wynn said she takes responsibility “for not paying close enough attention to some of the daily stresses in Ontarians’ lives.”
She told the audience it is “unacceptable” that some people are having to decide between paying for food and paying their electricity bills.
The premier’s personal popularity has fallen below 20 percent. Skyrocketing hydro bills have become one of the most pressing issues ahead of the June 2018 election.
An eight percent rebate on electricity bills will come into effect Jan. 1, but Wynne said she plans to find more ways to reduce rates and minimize the burden on consumers.
