Worst roads wreck vehicles

Driving a car is already a huge investment, and dealing with damaged roads can cost you even more.
Now, CAA is inviting you to nominate the worst roads in Ontario. CAA’s last list in 2010 named Sioux Lookout’s Pelican Falls Road in Northern Ontario the worst road in the province. Hamilton’s Burlington Street made the top five.
CAA says it’s had about a 90 percent success rate with getting roads on the list fixed, or at least scheduled for repairs. And that could end up saving you money.
Rob Bernacci, owner of Locke Street Tire and Auto in Hamilton: “It can be pretty wide, the amount of damage that can be done to a car. You can get something as low as only a couple hundred dollars right up until thousands, depending on what kind of damage is done.”
The CAA’s John Ennis: “Bad roads are a significant cost to motorists. In the past month we’ve seen gas prices reach near record levels, and anyone who’s had to have repairs done to their vehicle certainly knows that can be an added expense to the cost of owning a vehicle.”
This is the ninth instalment of the worst roads campaign. You can cast your ballot for the worst road in Ontario until April 24th, at worstroads.ca.
