Woodbine pays tribute to racehorses killed in fire

Tributes and memorials are taking place this evening and in the coming days for the dozens of horses killed in a Puslinch barn fire earlier this week. The entire horse racing community is rallying around the people who lost not only animals, but also their way of making a living in the blaze.

A ceremony was held at earlier tonight at Woodbine Racetrack and tonight’s race card was dedicated to the animals. A video presentation featuring the horses started the tribute and a minute of silence punctuated the ceremony. Flags are flying at half mast all night through the end of racing on Saturday.
