In October teams will compete in the Culinary Olympics in Germany and our Junior national team is based right here at Niagara College. This weekend our junior team is hosting a competition against a familiar rival, they have invited their counterparts from the US to help them raise their game.

“We’re really looking forward to it and we’re really pumped up, so everyday it gets more exciting. Says Ben Lillico, team Canada captain.

The group from Niagara College won the right to represent Canada in 2013 and each of them are either students or graduates of the school. The American team is an all star cast selected from all across the country.

Team captain Kristyn Granhan loves the chance to face off against the Canadians. “Keep your friends close, your enemies closer. It’s great to have an international team to learn from and work with and have a friend when we go over to the Olympics.”

This will be the second time the two teams have met. Last summer team Canada edged out the Americans on their home turf in Orlando. Tomorrow they will compete under the conditions that they will face at the Culinary olympics. It’s a 5 hour competition where teams prepare both a buffet and separate dinner.
