Woman charged for stealing purse of Good Samaritan helping victim of fatal Hamilton shooting

Hamilton police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole a Good Samaritans purse while she was trying to help the victim of the fatal downtown shooting, 26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie.

Investigators have charged 35-year-old Chala Ogden from Hamilton with 8 charges including failure to comply with probation and two counts of fraud under $5,000.

Officers say the woman remains in custody.

Police thank the community for their courage and compassion in helping Sarkodie on July 11.

The investigation into Belinda Sarkodie’s death remains ongoing.
