Winter’s Tale

In Winter’s Tale, Colin Farrell plays Peter Lake, a thief who falls in love with a dying girl living in a house he breaks into. Based on the popular novel by Mark Helprin, the story is set in a mythical Manhattan, spanning centuries and dealing with an eternal battle between Peter Lake and the evil Pearly Soames, played by Russell Crowe.

This is the directorial debut for screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who won a Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind. He was able to use that success to bring together a pretty loaded cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt, and Downton Abbey’s Jessica Brown Findlay. If you like your romance sprinkled with a little bit of fantasy, then this one’s for you.
