What’s open, closed in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara for Easter long weekend

Many services and stores may be closed this long weekend since Good Friday is a public holiday in Ontario.

Here’s a look at what is open and closed in our region on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

CLOSED

  • Banks and government offices;
  • Garbage, green bin, recycling bins and bulk waste is moved to Saturday. Monday will be a regular collection day;
  • All LCBO locations – select stores will be open on Monday;
  • Buses will operate on a holiday schedule and a regular schedule on Monday;
  • Canada Post will be closed on Friday and Monday;
  • Libraries are closed on Friday, Easter Sunday, Monday and;
  • Most grocery stores and malls are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday but open on Monday.

OPEN

  • GO Transit buses and trains will be running on a Sunday schedule on Friday and Saturday;
  • Most Toronto attractions will be open such as Ripley’s Aquarium, Toronto Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum and more;
  • St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre will be closed on Good Friday but open for the rest of the long weekend;
  • Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope is only closed on Easter Monday but open for the rest of the weekend;
  • Major outlet malls in Niagara Falls, Halton Hills and Toronto will be open and;
  • Most Shopper Drug Mart locations will be open.
