The Easter holiday marks the first long weekend of Spring, and it brings closures that can affect businesses, city services and public transportation.
Here’s a look at what is open and closed in Hamilton, Halton and the Niagara Region.
The Hamilton Street Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday and return to regular weekday hours on Monday.
Burlington Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, March 29.
Throughout Friday, Niagara Region Transit (NRT) will reduce its hours.
In St. Catharines will run from 10:45 a.m. until 6 p.m.
In Niagara Falls, it will operate from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. (WEGO runs until 11 p.m.)
For Welland, operating hours will only be between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Regional routes will not be serviced.
NRT will resume most of its regularly scheduled transit schedules on Monday. View its schedule here.
In Hamilton, garbage pickup will be delayed by a day on Friday. Regular pickup will resume on Monday. Community recycling centres are closed on Friday and will reopen on Saturday and Monday.
In Burlington and Milton, there will be no collection services until Monday.
Oakville will delay pickup on Friday by one day, with services resuming on Saturday.
And lastly, there will be no changes to garbage collection schedules throughout the Niagara Region over the holiday.
