Apartment fire in Hamilton captured on video

An apartment fire in Hamilton was caught on video and shared to social media yesterday.

No one was injured but the fire department says that it caused “extensive” damage to the apartment.

Fortunately, the fire was brought under control before it spread throughout the building.

Crews were called out to the building at Wellington Street North and Wilson Street around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Upon their arrival, they reported visible smoke and fire.

Fortunately, they were able to get the fire under control before it spread throughout the rest of the 18-storey building.

“Value estimates of the damages unknown at this time,” the fire department told CHCH News in an update Friday.

In the video, several loud pops can be heard reverberating from within the building while emergency sirens wail in the distance.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
