What’s open and closed on Thanksgiving Monday in Hamilton, Niagara, Halton

Thanksgiving Monday means a day off and a chance for many across the country to relax. Here’s a look at what is open and closed in Hamilton, Niagara and Halton.

Across all regions, City administrative offices, most shopping malls, most grocery stores, all Beer Stores and LCBO locations, banks and financial institutions and Canada Post delivery and postal outlets will be closed for the day.

Hamilton:

Some Shoppers Drug Mart locations will remain open
Major movie theatres will be open.
Public Library branches will be closed.
Hamilton’s Civic Museums, Farmers’ Market and Housing Services will be closed.
All recycling and garbage pickup will be pushed back one day.
HSR buses will run on a Sunday/holiday schedule with the last bus leaving downtown at around 10 p.m.
TransCab service will align with HSR’s Sunday schedule.
GoTransit will run on a Sunday schedule.
Hamilton Municipal Parking System will be closed Monday and there will be no enforcement from Sunday at 5:45 a.m. until Monday at 10 p.m.

Niagara:

Some Shoppers Drug Mart locations will remain open.
Some grocery stores will be open and major movie theatres will be open as usual.
St. Catharines Farmers’ Market will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Lakeside Park Carousel will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will close for the year after the weekend.
St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre will be open all weekend including Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tourist destinations at Clifton Hill, Niagara Parks and Hornblower Cruises will be open.
St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and the Garden City Golf Course will be closed Monday but open for the rest of the weekend.
The Outlet Collection at Niagara will be open.
Garbage and recycling pickup will run as usual with no changes to the schedule.
Niagara Regional Transit buses in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland will run on holiday schedules.
There will be no regional transit buses running between cities.
Niagara Specialized Transit and On Demand transportation will not be running.

Halton:

Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be open.
Conservation Halton Parks will all remain open.
Most restaurants will remain open.
There will be no garbage or recycling pickup, with the schedule being pushed by one day.
Oakville Transit will run on a holiday schedule provided from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m
Burlington Transit will run on a Sunday schedule and the Downtown Transit Terminal will be closed.
Milton Transit will not operate.
GO Transit will run on a Sunday schedule.
