Welland man arrested after sexual assault at Thorold elementary school

A man from Welland was arrested Wednesday afternoon in relation to sexual assaults at an elementary school in the Town of Thorold.

Officers attended the Holy Rosemary Elementary School at 41 Collier Rd. South in Thorold at around 4:30 in response to a sexual assault call.

Their investigation revealed a man allegedly approached a girl under the age of 16 and grabbed her buttocks.

The man was then said to have proceeded into the area of the daycare and pushed an employee out of the way so he could enter the school.

An employee of the school was able to keep the kids safe in the hallway.

Detectives say two women employees were sexually assaulted by the man.

Police arrested 28-year-old Nathan Arthur T. Peddle from Welland just before 5 p.m. that afternoon.

He is being charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, and breaking and entering to commit sexual assault.

Peddle was held in custody pending a bail hearing expected to take place at a St. Catharines courthouse Thursday.
