Welland Hospital protest
Protesters from Welland were in Toronto Thursday to voice their anger at cuts to their hospital.
A bus load of people arrived at Queen’s Park to register a complaint against cuts to a number of services at the Welland Hospital. $13-million in cuts were announced by the Niagara Health System back in January. The cuts mean the end of services in obstetrics, pediatrics, and in-patient mental health at the hospital. Protesters say this will force many of them to travel much further in order to get treatment. Protesters are also concerned of even more future cuts, which they’re afraid could mean the elimination of the hospital’s emergency department.
