Wedding season is here and with the average Canadian wedding now topping 30 thousand dollars couples are looking for ways to cut costs. Weddings can be pricey for everyone, the bride and groom, the wedding party and the guests.

When it comes to weddings it can be pricey for everyone whether you are the bride and groom, in the wedding party or a guest. Today we looked at some ways to save some cash including turning to second hand sites like kijiji.

With the average wedding now costing $30-thousand dollars, it’s becoming harder and harder to make that dream wedding into a reality. Here’s how it breaks down on a 25-thousand dollar budget:

12-thousand is spent on the ceremony and reception… two thousand on attire, hair and makeup… photography will set you back another two grand… and flowers and decor $1250

another $1250 for entertainment… and 750-dollars each for transportation, wedding rings, and your invites

It’s not just hard on the wallets of the bride and groom… wedding guests are feeling the pinch too. On average it costs about $700 to go to a wedding when you factor in gifts, parties, accommodations for out of town guests and dressing up.

A a lot of Canadians are turning to sites like kijiji to save a few bucks.

According to one survey, when it comes to gifts family members typically give about $230 per person while co-workers usually give about 80 dollars. And Canadians will spend more on gifts for a wedding with an open bar versus a cash bar.
