Water main mess threatens Supercrawl

Supercrawl is set to start tomorrow night on James Street North in Hamilton, showing off the city’s arts and culture, with huge crowds expected.

But a huge water pipe broke today right in the middle of the area where all those people will be walking. City crews were working on the broken pipe this afternoon, with part of the sidewalk blocked at James and Cannon and traffic backed up.

Businesses along James were coping with the water outage, and some were cleaning up water in their basements, saying they should have been using the time to prepare for Supercrawl instead. And they’re worried about the kind of image Hamilton will be presenting.
