Victim’s partner charged in fatal Georgetown fire last week
Halton police say they have arrested the partner of a woman who was killed in a house fire in Georgetown last week.
Emergency crews were called around 5:20 a.m. on Feb. 7 to a home on Victoria Street that was fully engulfed in flames.
Officers say the fire destroyed two semi-detached homes.
Halton Hills firefighters removed the woman from the home and say she died at the scene.

On Monday, police say they have arrested a man who was the common-law partner of the woman.
Christopher Dayfoot, 38, of Georgetown has been charged with arson – disregard for human life.
Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal continues to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Police say Dayfoot appeared in court Friday and remains in custody pending a future court date.
