Vandals cause damage in community pool

Vandals destroyed the interior of a storage and change room building at Memorial Pool in Welland over the weekend.

They emptied chemical and soap bottles on the floor and furniture, overturned chairs, damaged desks, and rolled toilet paper all over the building. They caused more than a thousand dollars in damage. Cleaning crews haven’t touched the building yet because hazardous pool chemicals were sprayed over almost everything. Tim Milinkoff is the facilities manager: “My initial reaction is that it wasn’t that bad until I started to go deeper into the building. And then of course I started to see major mess. And I knew that it was beyond a simple clean up for students, typically would clean this up.”

As a result of this vandalism spree there will be more spot checks at around the park.
