Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to speak to Canadian Parliament Tuesday morning as the Russian invasion intensifies.
Zelenskyy has been hosting a series of virtual visits as he pleads for international aid.
He addressed the British House of Commons on March 8 and is scheduled to speak to members of the U.S. House and Senate on Wednesday.
More than two million people have fled Ukraine so far. A series of Russian strikes hit a neighbourhood in the country’s capital, sparking a large fire and a frantic rescue in a 15-story apartment building.
Canadian Parliament is not scheduled to sit until March 21, but a special request was approved to hold the address and allow guests to attend.
Last week, Trudeau announced Canada would send another $50 million of specialized equipment to help Ukraine and imposed new sanctions on Russian oligarchs, government officials and supporters of the country’s leadership.
