UK court rules against Johnny Depp in libel action against Sun tabloid

Britain’s High Court has ruled against Johnny Depp in his libel suit against the Sun tabloid.
The suit was linked to a 2018 article, where the paper claimed Depp was an abusive husband to his wife Amber Heard while they were together.
Depp said the claims that he was violent toward Heard were completely untrue.
He sued News Group Newspapers and the Sun’s executive editor Dan Wootoon.
Lawyers for the newspaper group cited evidence, including photos, audio recording and text messages.
In a ruling released Monday, the court ruled Depp had “not succeeded in his action for libel.”
It ruled in the publisher’s favour, calling the claims “substantially true.”
