On a day like today, most of us aren’t thinking about the long cold winter ahead. But it arrives every year without fail and many Canadians are already planning their trip to the sunny south. Some are heading down for a week, while other snowbirds get to go for months at a time.

New rules could soon be in play for those Canadian snowbirds making their annual trek south to states like Florida, Arizona, or California, and the rules could allow Canadians to stay in the sun longer than ever before. The only problem is, it will come at a price and the total cost may go beyond the hotel or resort bill.

Joining us to talk about these new laws and how they could impact travel decisions this winter is Matt Altro, a cross-border financial planner with the firm Altro Levy and Marvin Ryder with the DeGroote School of Business.
