Niagara police are thanking the public for helping get a violent criminal is back in police custody this evening.

35-year old John Crane was spotted late Thursday afternoon walking in the area of Carlton and Geneva Streets in St. Catharines. Several tips were phoned into police after Crane’s photo was posted. The hunt for Crane was on after he didn’t return to his halfway house. Crane was serving time for a string of convenience store holdups in St. Catharines and Thorold.
