U.S., European allies to impose new sanctions on Russia

The U.S. and its European allies will impose new stiff sanctions on Russia Wednesday.
The White House says sanctions will include a ban on new investments.
The joint action also includes toughened sanctions on Russia’s financial institutions and government-owned businesses, and more sanctions on government officials and their family members.
Earlier this week, Minster of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly said Canada will also be announcing more sanctions. Details have not yet been released.
The U.S. Defense Department is sending Ukraine an additional 100-million dollars worth of military equipment, including Javelin anti-armour systems.
