Halton regional police have arrested two teens suspected of assaulting a man early Thursday morning at his Oakville home during a home invasion.

Officers say multiple suspects broke into a home on Bellwood Avenue in Oakville just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the suspects made their way into a bedroom and confronted a man who lived there to demand money from him.

During the confrontation, police allege the man was struck in the head, face and upper body.

Police say the suspects were successful in taking the keys to a Mercedes sedan parked in the driveway, before stealing the vehicle and driving away.

Emergency crews say the man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

‘Unconscionable’

Superintendent Dave Costantini from the Oakville division of Halton police described the assault “incomprehensible.”

“Our officers will continue to relentlessly pursue all those who threaten the safety and security of our residents,” he said in a public release.

Detectives say as a result of the investigation, the two were located in Toronto later that afternoon and arrested, recovering the stolen Mercedes.

Police have charged 18-year-old Jayden Batiste from Vaughn and 18-year-old Dyante Johnson from Brampton with offences connected to aggravated assault, breaking and entering and robbery.

Both are being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
