Hamilton police spent much of the night breaking up several large parties, fights and stabbings.

A large house party in the city’s west end ended after four people were injured near Royal Avenue and Emerson Street, not far from McMaster University.

Police say two people were found bleeding outside the house at 69 Royal Ave. with stab wounds. Two others were found inside the house with cuts and head injuries.

This was just one of several violent street disturbances police had to bring under control overnight.

Hundreds of bar patrons spilled onto King William Street in downtown Hamilton around 2:30 a.m., with several men starting a fight. Mounted police officers patrolling Hess Village were called in to help with crown control.

Six people were arrested in that incident, and face various charges. Police spent more than an hour breaking up fights and trying to disperse the large crowd.

Officers at the scene say many of the party-goers were from out of town, and gathered for a planned party.
