Brantford Police Service has arrested two men in connection with multiple break and enters on Erie Avenue in Brantford, and the theft of electrical wiring.

Officers say at around 7:40 a.m., a construction site in the area reported thousands of dollars worth of electrical wiring had been stolen from a generator that was being used to power the construction project.

They say several previous thefts had happened at the site over the week.

Investigators say the suspects had climbed a locked perimeter fence and removed the wiring and multiple articles.

Around 8:33 a.m., detectives found two men at the rear fence of a scrap-metal facility at a nearby location in possession of a stolen wiring.

They confirmed the men to be involved in the thefts and arrested them without incident.

After searching both men, officers seized break-and-enter tools, clothing suspected to have been worn during the offences and other items they believe to be associated with the thefts.

Police have charged a 48-year-old man and a 42-year-old man with offences including those related to breaking and entering with intent, theft under $5,000 and possessing stolen property.

Officers have not revealed the identities of either men or where they live, but say they are being held in the Brantford Police Service pending a bail hearing.
