Two men arrested in connection with St. Catharines home invasion

Niagara police have arrested two 18-year-olds in connection with a St. Catharines home invasion in March.

The home invasion happened in the early morning hours of March 13 in the area of Lake Street and Welland Avenue.

Investigators say five masked suspects with firearms arrived at the residence in a white Acura TLX that was stolen in Mississauga.

Four of the suspects broke into the apartment and stole personal possessions. The fifth remained in the stolen Acura.

Officers arrived within minutes and intercepted the suspects fleeing.

The man in the stolen vehicle rammed two police cruisers, while the others fled on foot. The man in the vehicle was arrested on scene.

As a result, an 18-year-old from Elmira was arrested and charged with multiple home invasion related charges.

In a new release sent to media by Niagara police, they say 18-year-old Jaden Kelly was arrested on March 19 in Waterloo with assistance from the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

Over a month later on April 25, 18-year-old Osiah Hutchinson was arrested in Toronto with the assistance of Toronto police.

Kelly and Hutchinson are facing the following charges:

  • Robbery with a Firearm (four counts)
  • Forcible Confinement (four counts)
  • Break and Enter Dwelling House (two counts)
  • Disguised with Intent
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (two counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
