Two charged, one suspect at large after cable wire theft in Port Colborne

Niagara police have charged two men who allegedly cut and stole cable wires in Port Colborne and are searching for a third suspect.

On Thursday at around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Cement and Lakeshore roads for a report of a man cutting cable wires in the area.

Police arrived on scene and located three males with cut cables in their possession.

Investigators say one man was arrested on scene while two males fled the scene.

One of the men that fled was located and arrested shortly after and the third male remains outstanding.

Jason Royce White, 39, of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of break-in instruments, mischief under $5000 and theft under $5000.

Charles Steven Burnett, 35, of Port Colborne was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and possession of break-in instruments.

White remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Burnett was released with a future court date.

The third suspect remains outstanding and no suspect description is available.
