TSB: Do more to save lives

Transport Canada could a lot more to prevent accidents and save lives.

That from the Transportation Safety Board in its strongly-word annual report that comes just a week after the board called for “fundamental changes” to Canada’s rail system to help prevent crashes like the one in February last year that killed the engineers on a VIA train as it passed through Burlington.

The TSB repeats the need to address the lack of voice and video recorders on trains.  The board also says there have been almost no improvements in aviation safety.

It adds since 1990, just 74 percent of its recommendations have been properly implemented.
