Trump delays deadline for trade deals, threatens high tariff penalties

U.S. President Donald Trump is again threatening countries around the world with high tariffs if they don’t strike a deal on trade, though the president delayed his deadline to come to those agreements.

High tariffs were set to come into effect for countries that hadn’t reached a trade deal, or are in the middle of negotiations like Canada, on Wednesday, but Monday the White House press secretary says the president now plans to levy those tariffs August 1st.
