Trapped in paradise, more stories of Canadians stuck in the violence in Mexico emerged Monday, including people from our area.

The federal government says the number of Canadians in Mexico registered with Ottawa have jumped to more than 26,000 people, amid widespread cartel violence sparked by the death of a major drug lord.

Many Canadians are being forced to hold up in their hotel rooms until cancelled flights can be rebooked and they can get back home.
