Canada’s next prime minister will visit Queen’s Park today.
A week and a day after sweeping to power in a majority win that surprised many, Justin Trudeau will have a face-to-face meeting with Premier Kathleen Wynne.
The meeting is seen as a symbolic change from how outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper hardly ever met with the premiers.
Wynne says the first conversation she wants to have with Trudeau once he’s sworn in as prime minister will be about enhancing the Canada Pension Plan.
Following that meeting, the two leaders will be among the dignitaries attending the funeral of former Canadian diplomat Ken Taylor.
Taylor garnered international fame for helping six Americans escape Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis, a story that was the subject of a book and more recently the Hollywood movie “Argo,” which Taylor criticized for re-writing history.
The 81-year-old died of cancer 10 days ago in New York.
