Truck driver faces charges

A truck driver involved in one of the crashes on the QEW in Niagara Falls Wednesday is facing charges.

The driver had the “dump box” of the tractor trailer in the “up” position while driving and it slammed into the Lundy’s Lane overpass, tearing the box off the trailer.

A woman driving a minivan smashed into the truck.

She was airlifted to hospital but is expected to recover from her injuries.

Crews worked through the night to repair the highway.

59 year old Robert Pitt of Port Colborne has been charged with careless driving and failing to inspect his truck.
