The trial of a Toronto pastor charged with the indecent assault of a teenage boy nearly 40 years ago continues today in Nova Scotia.

According to the Canadian Press, a witness testified that he saw Rev. Brent Hawkes perform a sexual act on a teenager in the mid-1970’s during an alcohol-fueled party when the pastor was a high school basketball coach in Nova Scotia.

The witness said he was about 16-years-old when a group of friends went to Hawkes’ home, while another witness testified that he saw Hawkes and a friend walking nude together in the home.

Until police contacted them, both witnesses said they hadn’t spoken of what they had seen or the party again.

Hawkes has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
