‘Making A Murderer’ nephew Brendan Dassey to be released

A federal judge has ordered that Brendan Dassey be released from prison while prosecutors appeal a ruling that overturned his conviction in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbrach.

The homicide case was made famous by the Netflix series “Making A Murderer.”

The judge ruled in August that investigators tricked Dassey, who was 16-year-old at the time of his arrest, into confessing he helped his uncle, Stephen Avery, with the crime.

Wisconsin’s Attorney General plans to file an emergency motion to block the conditional release.
