The trial of two people accused of killing an OPP officer in 2022 is set to begin March 27.

Greg Pierzchala – a 28-year-old OPP constable – was shot and killed on Dec. 27, 2022, while responding to a report about a car in the ditch outside Hagersville.

Just hours earlier, he had been told he’d passed his probation period with the OPP.

Randall McKenzie, 25, and Brandi Stewart-Sperry, 30, were charged with first-degree murder in relation to his death. Both have pleaded not guilty.

At the time of the shooting, McKenzie was on bail for unrelated charges.

Jury selection was completed on March 24 in Cayuga. The trial is expected to last six weeks.
