Transformers: Age of Extinction

Transformers: Age of Extinction is the latest instalment in the Transformers franchise and the fourth to be directed by Michael Bay. Taking place four years after the events of 2011’s Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, the film follows a broke mechanic (Mark Wahlberg) who discovers a deactivated Optimus Prime. Like all Transformers, the Autobot leader is being hunted down by the government, who have begun making their own versions of the robots to take their place. Meanwhile, a new Decepticon threat is looming, one that the Autobots can’t fight on their own. It takes the added firepower of the Dinobots, a group of robots that take the form of fearsome dinosaurs, in order to repel the Decepticon menace. The film co-stars Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, and Kelsey Grammer.
Originally, after wrapping the third instalment of the franchise, Bay had said that he wouldn’t be directing any more Transformers movies. Instead, he wanted to focus on some smaller projects like last year’s Pain and Gain. He could have funded the picture himself, but Paramount decided to pitch a deal to Bay that would see them greenlight Pain and Gain if he came back to direct Transformers: Age of Extinction – a deal Bay ultimately agreed to. The deal is similar to the one Peter Berg had with Universal that saw him direct Battleship in order to make Lone Survivor.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is rated PG.
