Toronto woman charged with murder after body found in suitcase

A Toronto woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Caledon woman whose body was found inside a suitcase.

Police were called to reports of a “suspicious incident” near Keele St. and Hillary Ave. around 10:43 a.m. last Wednesday.

Officers discovered the remains of 41-year-old Varsha Gajula inside a suitcase in the area.

Toronto police issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Carita Jackson, of Toronto.

On Monday, Jackson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. She is expected to appear in a Toronto court on Tuesday.

Two men were previously arrested in connection with Gajula’s death. Andre Bartley, 35, and Christopher Daley, 57, both of Toronto were charged with accessory after the fact – homicide, and indignity to human remains.
