Toronto Police identify mystery woman
Toronto Police have discovered the identity of a woman who showed up at a homeless shelter in September, with no ID and no idea where she’d come from or who she was.
The woman is Linda Hegg, 56, from Newark, Delaware. She’s a Navy veteran who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1996, and who had been in assisted living before she went missing.
She crossed the Peace Bridge in some sort of bus using an expired U.S. passport back on September 3rd. Two days later she showed up at a shelter, and a month later police started issuing news releases trying to find who she was.
In November, she was reported missing from the assisted living home in Delaware. An anonymous internet sleuth put the ‘missing’ photo from Delaware with the ‘found’ photo in Toronto and called Toronto police.
Linda is getting checked at a hospital in Newark with family at her side, and then she’ll go back to her assisted living home.
