(Update)
The Tiger-Cats officially introduced the quarterback they believe can help lead them to a Grey Cup on Friday. Zach Collaros, a young emerging star, has signed a 3-year deal with the Ticats.
It was hard to tell who was happier: Zach Collaros or Kent Austin: “I’m very excited to introduce Zach Collaros, a player I and the staff evaluated as soon as I took the job a year ago.”
Collaros said: “When we got the ball rolling, it was a no brainer, as soon as I talked to Coach Austin on the phone.”
But will Collaros be the starter in Hamilton?
“We signed Zach for a reason and we believe we have a proven player, a proven starter, and the great thing about Zach is he said ‘Coach, I don’t expect to be given anything.”
Collaros threw for over 23-hundred yards and 14 touchdowns, winning five of the eight games he started for the Argos last year. Four of those wins took place during a lengthy road trip in September, and included a spectacular performance in Calgary, where he threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns. To no one’s surprise, Collaros was subsequently named the CFL Player of the Month. When asked which Ticat player he was most looking forward to playing with, he said: “The one who really stands out is Andy Fantuz. He’s a big guy, always in the right spots. C.J. Gable is probably the best all around running back in this league. Sorry, Chad Kackert in Toronto, but, ha ha ha.”
Collaros has clearly left his days in double-blue behind him, which should definitely please Ticat fans.
