Police need ID on drug robbery suspects

Police are searching for witnesses after robberies at two Hamilton pharmacies, this week. In both cases, thieves threatened staff at the stores, and made off with significant quantities of drugs.

Even thought this pharmacy was hit four days ago, the owner of the store says that things are only now beginning to return to normal, and staff here are still traumatized .

Police have obtained and released videotape of two suspects entering the pharmacy on Monday, one of them carrying a hammer. Throughout the video, the suspects can be heard telling staff inside that no one would be hurt and demanding drugs. The owner said however, that one of the women on duty was dragged behind the counter on her knees, and threatened. The two suspects, one male and one female, scooped up a quantity of prescription drugs and a small amount of cash into a green garbage bag and fled to a waiting car outside. The while male is described as six feet tall with a thin build. The white female as five foot, two inches tall with a heavy build.

Then Thursday night, a male walked into the Marchese Pharmacy on James Street North, proceeded behind the counter and began filling a large pillow case with prescription drugs.

One of those drugs was methadone, a potent analgesic, that can be fatal if consumed in large quantites. police are advising residents to contact them if they see any of these bottles.

The suspect in this robbery is also described as white, about five-seven, with a thin build and blue eyes. he was seen wearing a light coloured jacket and a dark coloured hoodie.

Police are asking anyone with information in either case to contact  Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or detectives at either the Mountain, or Central police stations.
