Three dogs are dead in an Oakville neighbourhood and three more are sick. The dog owners believe it’s because their pets were poisoned. They’re not only concerned about their pets, they’re also worried about the safety of their kids.
When people take their dogs out for a walk at the Oakville condo complex, they’re watching every move their dog makes.
“There’s been too many deaths. 3 year old dogs, 7 year old dogs, one 11 year old but healthy and big dog” says resident Ron Faithful.
Neighbours found Wilsarin rat and mouse poison on condo grounds on Gainsborough Drive, right where small children play. So far no child has been affected however Victoria Raykoff’s lab Maggie is seriously ill in an animal hospital. “Maggie has severe liver damage right now. One of the dogs that has passed away had liver damage and that dog was only 3 years old.”
The Halton condominium corporation handed out flyers to the neighbours and that’s how they were able to determine that 6 dogs may have been affected. 3 are sick and 3 have died.
Marin Abe’s dog Bailey is sick but his other two dogs are ok. “I’d like to see whoever’s doing this punished and brought to justice.”
Neighbours suspect the man who lives in the complex put out the rat poison around his unit about two months ago. He won’t answer the door when people come knocking. Both police and the Ontario SPCA are investigating but have no proof of who put out the poison. it is only supposed to be used indoors.
