There’s exciting news for falcon-watchers, the first eggs have hatched on the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Hamilton.
It began shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday night, when the first chick was found to have emerged from its shell.
The Hamilton Naturalists’ Club expected the rest of the eggs to take another 24 to 48 hours to hatch, but instead, at around 6 a.m., McKeever stood up and revealed three baby chicks.
The babies were brought their first meal at just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
The naturalists’ club has a FalconWatch page where they provide live updates on the city’s resident peregrine falcons, Judson and McKeever.
McKeever laid her first egg on March 22 and her second egg was noticed on the Tuesday after.
Just a few days later, a third egg was discovered and then a fourth on March 29, a week after the first egg was laid.
