Three Niagara Falls residents are behind bars tonight, charged with the first degree murder of Alexander Fraser.

The 49-year old’s burning car was found pulled over near the Niagara River on Boxing Day.

The victim, Alexander Fraser was a father who leaves behind two teenage sons, Brian and Skyler. At 2am Boxing Day morning, Fraser’s burning car was found here in a place called Gonder’s Flats along the Niagara Parkway in Fort Erie.

Police searched the grounds and shoreline but found no sign of Fraser.

Niagara Police Sgt. Paul Thibert: “More attempts were made to try to locate the registered owner. And as time went on it became more suspicious.”

A week after Fraser’s burning car was found here along the river, his disappearance was turned over the major crime unit. Detectives had information to led them to believe Alexander Fraser was murdered.

Today, the police dive team scoured the waters of the hydro canal near Chippawa Creek Road.

On Sunday, police arrested and charged 20-year old Victoria Harvey of Niagara Falls with first degree murder, even though Fraser’s remains have not been found.

The next day, they arrested and charged 29-year old Duran Wilson and 25-year old Brian MacGarvie. Both men live in Niagara Falls. MacGarvie is a mixed martial arts enthusiast.

Police say the victim and murder suspects all knew each other.

Alex Fraser grew up in Hamilton. He’d lived in Niagara Falls for about nine years.

His ex-wife Sherry says he was a kind man who took a wrong path in life.

A vigil for Alexander Fraser will be held on January 26th, on the Niagara Parkway, at the site where his burning car was found. Family and friends will be there. Additional arrests in this murder case are expected.
