Steve Thomas played 12 hundred and 35 games in the NHL. His son Christian, has a lot of catching up to do but he’s working hard to get to the NHL and stay there. Christian is on a point per game pace with the Hamilton Bulldogs, 8 points in 8 games.

If you watch Christian Thomas for a minute, you’ll notice something familiar. Speed, grit, and a wicked shot.

Sylvain Leferve is the Bulldogs Head Coach: “Stumpy was a guy that was competing every night. He wasn’t big, he had speed but you knew when he was out there on the ice because you had to be aware of him by the way he could shoot the puck and he had a really good release. Apples don’t fall far from the tree.”

Christian Thomas is the son of 20-year NHL veteran Steve ‘Stumpy’ Thomas.

21-year old Christian was drafted 40th overall by the New York Rangers in 2010, but was traded to Montreal this summer. His dad was certainly no stranger to switching teams, and is always there to help Christian along the way.

Christian Thomas: “He played for six different teams so he’s been traded quite a bit so he knows how that feels so he knows how to adjust to that. He had a long career so he’s basically seen everything. If I have a problem, I ask him and he’s always got an answer. If I do something well he’s always there saying good job. If I do something bad, he’s there correcting me which is awesome.”
