(Updated; video added) A funeral was held today for the McMaster engineering student shot to death after leaving Hess Village last weekend.

Friends and family gathered at the J.B. Marlatt Funeral Home on Main Street in Hamilton this morning to pay their respects. Tyler Johnson, 30, was killed just after 3 am Saturday morning outside Viva la Pita on King Street West at Caroline.

Police say it was not a random act, but they don’t have a motive for the murder at this time. So far, no suspects have been identified. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call them or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
