The Donald gives Jenna green light
Transgender Vancouver woman can compete in Miss Universe pageant.
Jenna Talackova says she was devastated when she initially heard she’d be excluded from the pageant because she wasn’t born a woman.
Talackova had surgery four years ago when she was 19.
Her American lawyer, Gloria Allred, says her client’s expulsion from the pageant was “blatant discrimination.”
Afterward, Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe pageant, said Talackova can compete for the title and wished her the best of luck.
However, the pageant says she can enter if she meets the “legal gender recognition requirements of Canada.” That confused Talackova, whose passport, driver’s licence, and birth certificate list her as female.
