A 14-year old St. Catharines girl is attempting to beat the record for the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario.
On Sunday night, Trinity Arsenault started the swim from Queen’s Royal Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake and is expected to finish in Toronto’s Marilyn Bell Park.
The record is currently held by Norfolk County’s Annaleise Carr, who swam the distance two years ago when she was also 14-years-old. However, Arsenault is two months younger than Carr which would make her the new record holder if she completes the 52 kilometre swim.
Arsenault is swimming to raise money and awareness for Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program.
