Eight-year-old Brantford girl stuck in Gaza

An eight-year old girl from Brantford is apparently stuck in Gaza, and her family is desperately trying to bring her home.

Salma Abuzaiter was visiting her family in Gaza City with her father when the Israeli shelling began. It’s been 26 days, but her mother who works at Brantford General Hospital, says her daughter believes the bang of air strikes are actually fireworks.

Canadian Consular officials aren’t able to escort Salma and her father to the Rafah border because the situation on the ground is too dangerous. Her uncle is apparently prepared to do the transfer, but needs the help of Canadian Consular staff.
